Alzheimer’s Walk 2014

On Sept. 7th I will once again join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

My Bubbi

My Bubbi

I walk for my grandma.
I walk for my parents who were her caregivers for years.
I walk for my girlfriend who in 1993 gave up a promising acting and singing career in LA to go home and take care of her mother.
I walk for my friends today who are raising kids and taking care of a parent with Alzheimer’s disease.
I walk for the many people I’ve met who are struggling with this disease.
I walk and ask for donations because in my years of dealing with this disease, I have seen how we are making a difference. We have raised awareness. We have found better diagnosis and care for our loved ones. We have programs that provide help and support for our family members that are now caregivers. And we have made breakthroughs in research. We are that much closer to a world without Alzheimer’s Disease. Please donate to my walk page today, and help me continue to make a difference. Thank you! http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2014/CA-CaliforniaSouthland?px=5343435&pg=personal&fr_id=4948

Alzheimer’s Speaks

alz_spkslogofromwebsite_083112 As an advocate for Alzheimer’s, I am always looking for ways to help. I found a great site that supports Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients and caregivers. http://alzheimersspeaks.wordpress.com/ : They have chat rooms, webinars, and up to date information that is so helpful and supportive. Lori LaBey, the creator of Alzheimer’s Speaks was, “… recently Featured on FOX News for her cutting edge work with Alzheimer’s disease.  She is a Speaker, Trainer, Consultant, Spokes Person, and Author.” If you or someone you know is dealing with dementia or Alzheimer’s, I hope this site helps.

Aileen currently works for Irvine Cottages, and helps families place their loved ones in wonderful board and care facilities in Orange County, CA. She is a wealth of information and compassion. A true inspiration and role model. I have learned so much from you! Congratulations Aileen. Keep up all your amazing work.

Walking for a Reason 2013

The Sherman Tanks

The Sherman Tanks

Our Walk to End Alzheimer’s was a huge success! We all enjoyed a great day and The Sherman Tanks raised over $3,200.00. I told my dad, as we were rounding Balboa Lake in Van Nuys, CA, this walk is literally a “walk in the park!”  The typical “June gloom” kept the morning cool and the 5k at Balboa Park was just perfect. Families, pets, colleagues and friends, were there to share the morning and raise money for this important cause. The Alzheimer’s Association raised over $137,000 by Sunday, with more still coming in. They hope to reach their goal of $145,000. Thank you to all who supported us. We hope you will  join us next year!

Making a difference

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is this Sunday! We want to thank everyone who donated so far. The Sherman Tanks are ranked in the top 8 of all the teams walking!  If you haven’t already donated, we could still use your support. Please click on the link below.

Many strides have been made since my grandma was diagnosed. However, as our generations age, more and more people need our attention. My mother still helps place family’s parents in loving dependent care homes. The money we raise goes to research and support services for the families dealing with a loved one stricken. Your support does help.

Thank you, and may we all find health and happiness as we continue to grow.
